< BackThe Road to Transylvania
The story is narrated by Jasmin, a young child who lives in Hastings, UK, with a 500 year old vampire called Prince Osnovski. Jasmin dreams about having a mother. She doesn’t know the Prince is really her father. The Prince is summoned home to Transylvania. On arrival, Osnovski is horrified to find the ancestral castle turned into a theme park. His once powerful father, the vampire king, is now absorbed in painting portraits of his most memorable victims. In charge is Osnovski’s former lover, Countess Garatovski, who has led the Transylvanian vampires into the 21st century and reached an accord with the locals. She also runs a worldwide chain of pretty cool luxury hotels. She does not want the Prince turning back the clock. Other characters include Charlie, a pretty teacher, whom Jasmin sees as a mother substitute; a lovesick zombie; a jealous ghoul; Jasmin's real mother; and an unexpected vampire slayer. Funny, frightening, full of incident, the story is also poignant. And at its core is the relationship between Jasmin and Osnovski, both trying to find out where they fit in the world.
The Slamdance Screenplay competition 2007 commented: 'There is more than sufficient good plot, action and character material here for the script to made into a compelling and marketable horror thriller.'
The script was nominated in the best original screenplay category at the Swansea Life Film Festival 2008.
