The Revelation of Reverend Jones [2008]

Rather in the genre of an Ealing comedy – though with very different subject matter! – this tells the story of a transvestite vicar exposed by the press. Until then his congregation have turned a determinedly blind eye to his interest in Judy Garland and his mimicking Bette Davis at parish meetings. Dialogue is all in very cheery verse.

The script was shortlisted in the short script competition in the Supershorts International Film Festival 2008. It was then called 'The Tale of Reverend James', but as it was to be shot in Wales, the title was subtly altered!

The film was shot in and around Swansea, using local crew and actors, except for Nigel Osner who played Reverend Jones. The film was made in August 2008.

The film has been shown at festivals in the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Egypt and Los Angeles. It won the award for best UK film under 25 minutes at the International Film Festival, Ireland, and was nominated as best film under 15 minutes at the Swansea Bay Film Festival 2009.
